t happened during a client project yesterday. The familiar hum of my iMac suddenly went silent. The lofi instrumental playlist I'd been vibing to cut off mid-beat. Then the dreaded rainbow wheel appeared, spinning endlessly before my screen went black and restarted itself.
For the first time in 10 years, my faithful work companion gave me the digital equivalent of "I need a moment."
My girl, my work bestie, my digital partner-in-crime through thick and thin, is finally ready to be put out to pasture.
A Decade of Digital Partnership
This machine has witnessed and enabled every major milestone in my business journey:
- Launching my entire business from scratch when I was just figuring things out
- Building a website that generated $64K on launch day for one of my clients (yes, on this "outdated" machine)
- Elevating dozens of brands using just Photoshop (the 2023 version, because that's as far as she could update)
- Pivoting to fully digital services during COVID when in-person work came to a screeching halt
- Creating family memories through four babies – every precious photo stored in her digital heart
- Editing countless videos that helped me connect with amazing people in my community
Here's the kicker – even though she hasn't been able to update my Adobe software for over a year and flat-out refused to download Premier Pro, this "outdated" machine helped me generate well over 5 figures already in March 2025!
The Wisdom Behind the Work
This situation got me thinking about something my husband always says when we're talking about people getting caught up in having the "best/newest" things...
"It ain't what's on ya, it's what's in ya."
Those words of wisdom have stuck with me, and I've realized the same philosophy applies perfectly to our creative equipment.
I've been running the 2023 version of Illustrator and still delivering brand guides that make my clients' eyes light up. I've been designing websites that convert like crazy on software some would consider ancient history.
Only now, as my trusted companion is giving her final digital breaths, am I finally considering an upgrade.
The Equipment Excuse
If you're in the online space, I bet you've told yourself at least one of these things:
- That dusty camera is sitting in your closet because you're waiting to afford something "better" for your before-and-after client transformations
- You're avoiding Instagram Reels because you think your smartphone camera "isn't professional enough" to showcase your wellness techniques
- You're postponing your beauty masterclass launch because your lighting setup isn't "Instagram-worthy"
- You've convinced yourself you need the latest salon equipment before advertising your services
Im going to hold your hand when I say this... Stop that. Right now.
Success With What You Have
You don't need fancy equipment to start making an impact in your wellness or beauty business. Consider what you can accomplish with just these basic tools:
With nothing but a smartphone camera and free Canva account, you can create professional-looking content that resonates with your audience. You can record simple tutorials in your kitchen with natural window light. Design client before-and-after graphics that showcase real results. Create shareable nutrition tips that position you as an expert.
No fancy equipment, no professional editing software. Just valuable content and authentic delivery.
I've seen countless wellness professionals go from zero to waitlist using nothing more sophisticated than the phone in their pocket and free design tools. The common denominator wasn't their equipment – it was their commitment to consistently sharing their expertise.
That professional with all the fancy gear? They're not better than you – they just have different tools. Your expertise, your transformative approach, your dedication to your clients' wellness – THAT'S what makes the difference.
So pull that "outdated" equipment out and START. TODAY.
More Than Just a Machine
As I back up the thousands of family photos from my iMac – newborn hospital pictures, first steps, birthday celebrations, holiday gatherings – I'm reminded that the value isn't in the machine that captured them, but in the precious moments themselves.
This faithful electronic companion has stored not just client work, but my family's entire visual history through four babies and countless milestones. The slight flicker in her screen and the gentle whirring sound she makes on startup have become as familiar as an old friend's voice.
It's strange how a piece of technology can become so deeply woven into the fabric of our lives and businesses.
The Truth About Client Attraction
Your clients aren't hiring your equipment – they're hiring YOU. Your healing touch. Your transformative formulas. Your life-changing protocols.
The tools you use are just that – tools. They're the vehicle for your expertise, not the expertise itself.
This is exactly why I developed my "Build it Backward" method. It's how I've been attracting dream clients in the health, wellness, and beauty space without needing the fanciest tools or the newest tech. It's all about working with what you've got to create results that speak for themselves.
A Limited-Time Resource
I'm currently developing this method into a comprehensive paid masterclass, but for now, it's completely FREE. Once the webinar launches next month, this resource will only be available as part of the paid program. So grab it while you can!

Moving Forward With Gratitude
As I prepare to say goodbye to my faithful iMac and transition to new equipment, I'm filled with gratitude for what this machine has helped me accomplish. It's a reminder that the limitation is rarely the tools we have – it's how we choose to use them.
So the next time you find yourself saying "I can't until I have X," remember that someone out there is creating amazing work with less than what you already have.
What are you going to create today with what you've got?
